Put an End to Those Rough Mornings
In February 2013, inspired by the Dollar Shave Club model in the United States, Big Moustache took the plunge and began shipping razor blades directly to customers’ homes, offering a flexible and customizable subscription plan.
In light of the subscription service’s success, Big Moustache rolled up its sleeves and decided to launch a line of beard and shaving products in line with the team’s vision and values. As a result, the brand has developed natural, French-made skincare products and professional-grade tools.
A User Experience Under the Microscope
Special attention was paid to the site’s usability to ensure a simple and enjoyable user experience. In terms of the overall structure, the interplay of solid colors and white space creates a clean, uncluttered page that lets the visuals take center stage. The top of the page has been redesigned to make a stronger visual impact on visitors.
This results in a reorganized header that is clearer and more comprehensive:
- The search bar has been given more prominence
- The contact number and FAQs are easily accessible
- The shopping cart and account are designed in line with the brand’s image and are more visible
Best Sellers and Shopping Journeys
The slider at the top of the page sets the tone and immerses the user in the world of Big Moustache. The best-sellers are prominently featured against a textured yellow background, which adds depth to the interface.
To help guide users through their shopping experience, the banner “A Routine for Every Bearded Man” directs them to products tailored to their needs. Whether you’re clean-shaven, bearded, or have a mustache, each profile offers a selection of products—available as kits or gift sets—for a personalized shaving experience.
The Big Moustache Subscription
The subscription section has been illustrated and presented in a step-by-step format. First, our customer chooses between two types of razors. Next, he enters how often he shaves each week. Based on his answer, a feature determines the appropriate number of blades for the next two months. Finally, two subscription options are offered: a classic blades-and-razor package, and a blades-and-razor-plus-a-product-of-your-choice package at a discounted price. An optional cross-selling step suggests complementary products for the first order.
Migrating from PrestaShop 1.6 to 1.7
A necessary step, migrating to a new version of a CMS is primarily intended to address security vulnerabilities. Modules are updated and become less and less compatible with older versions. Therefore, the longer you wait to migrate, the more vulnerable your site becomes to cyberattacks, and certain features may no longer work.
Every migration means starting almost from scratch with the code. It’s therefore also an opportunity to bring the site up to date and ensure it evolves in step with the company’s growth. Big Moustache took this opportunity, in particular, to revamp the site’s subscription plans.
Manageable modules
The Prestatemplate module allows customers to manage and edit most pages and menus on their own.
For example, the “Christmas” category they created can be deactivated once it is no longer relevant. Once deactivated, links in that category will redirect to the site’s home page rather than to a 404 error page.
A Great Community
Setting up a token to create a shortcut to the Big Moustache Instagram account displays the most recent posts next to the #Bigmoustache hashtag. It’s a great incentive to join the community of 11,000 followers and keep up with the brand’s adventures.
