Black Friday 2025: When AI Redefines the Way We Shop
Black Friday 2025 broke yet another record: $11.8 billion in online purchases, up 9.1% from last year. But behind this impressive figure lies a much deeper transformation: AI has changed the way we shop. According to analyses published this week, traffic from AI tools (AI-powered chatbots or AI assistants) has increased by 805% in one year.
And most importantly: users who arrive via an AI assistant are 38% more likely to place an order than others. In other words, LLMs are becoming a conversion channel in their own right.
How Is an AI Assistant Transforming the Shopping Experience?
By 2025, most consumers will no longer search for “best Black Friday deal on a 65-inch TV” on Google.
They ask their AI assistant directly. The artificial intelligence compares, filters, and recommends—then points them toward a few retailers. It eliminates friction, speeds up decision-making, and introduces a new player in the shopping journey: the chatbot. When combined with mobile (which accounts for up to 55% of online sales this year), the shopping experience becomes incredibly seamless.
Another notable trend: premium purchases are surging—up 64% in electronics, 55% in sports e-commerce, and 48% in home appliances. AI reassures, guides, and justifies the purchase price. The average order value is rising.
What This Means for Retailers
Our conclusion is simple: AI is no longer just a gimmick. It is a strategic cornerstone of modern business.
And retailers must now optimize their tech stack to become “AI-friendly.”
In practical terms, this means:
- Flawless product data: structured, rich data that can be processed by large language models (LLMs).
- Clean, fast APIs: AI agents won’t wait 4 seconds for a response.
- Real-time data feeds to personalize recommendations, prices, and promotions.
- Specific monitoring of “AI-referenced buyers” to analyze this new channel.
- A strategy to increase visibility among AI agents (particularly for local search rankings).
Because these days, it’s no longer the user who chooses the e-commerce site—it’s their assistant.
What now?
Black Friday 2025 sends a clear message: retailers ready for AI will convert customers twice as fast as the rest. The rest… will fade into obscurity.
At DATASOLUTION, as an AI agency, we are already supporting our clients through these transitions: data quality and governance, APIs, LLM integration, generative AI applied to commerce, customer journey optimization, GEO …
The question is no longer whether AI will transform e-commerce, but how quickly you’re prepared to keep up.
