Adobe Commerce Is Evolving: What’s Changing Starting in June 2025
At the Adobe Summit, Adobe unveiled two new solutions that will change the way businesses manage their e-commerce operations: Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service and Adobe Commerce Optimizer.
Available starting in June 2025, they are designed to simplify and optimize the e-commerce experience, without necessarily revolutionizing everything all at once.
Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service: A Shift Toward SaaS
This new offering transforms Adobe Commerce into a SaaS solution that is fully hosted and managed by Adobe.
The goal?
Reduce technical complexity and hosting costs, while providing automatic updates and an infrastructure that scales to accommodate traffic spikes.
A few key points to remember:
- A faster storefront thanks to Edge services, which improves organic search rankings and the user experience.
- An AI-powered (GenAI) content creation tool with A/B testing capabilities and intuitive editing features.
- Native digital asset management (DAM) integrated with Adobe Express and Firefly to simplify the process of publishing content.
- A scalable catalog capable of managing up to 250 million SKUs and personalized pricing on a large scale.
The idea, then, is to offer a turnkey solution, free from the usual technical constraints, particularly for companies that want to scale up quickly.
Adobe Commerce Optimizer: Modernize Without Starting From Scratch
Adobe’s other new offering is aimed at businesses that already use an e-commerce solution but want to improve it without switching platforms. Adobe Commerce Optimizer adds a new layer of functionality that helps speed up site performance, optimize catalog management, and integrate personalization tools.
In practical terms, this solution allows you to:
- Improve front-end performance without changing the back end.
- Make it easier to integrate user-generated content and media.
- Connect everything using out-of-the-box APIs and connectors.
- Track the impact of changes using dedicated reporting tools.
This is a good option for companies that want to make gradual improvements without undertaking major migration projects.
Should we switch to these new solutions?
Adobe assures users that it will continue to support the current versions of Commerce, so there’s no rush. However, these new features offer interesting opportunities to reduce costs, speed up updates, and optimize performance. The migration can be done all at once or in stages, depending on your needs.
If you’re already using Adobe Commerce or are considering a redesign, these announcements could very well be a game-changer.
