Be aware of both your limits and the resources at your disposal. Focus on your <strong>core objectives<\/strong> to prioritize and pace the various phases of your project.<\/p>\n<p>The key to success lies in this mindset: don\u2019t aim for perfection at the start<strong>.<\/strong> Don\u2019t expect to have everything upon launch. Resist the quest for perfection. Instead, c<strong>onsider your platform a continuous work in progress, to be refined and improved based on customer feedback.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4 id=\"eluid9ae11e85\" class=\"eluid9ae11e85 dn-heading\">\ud83d\udea8 Risk #6: Lacking ambition<\/h4>\n<div class=\"zn_text_box eluidfc414acf zn_text_box-light element-scheme--light\">\n<p>While some companies dream too big, <strong>others think too small.<\/strong> Their strategy is often short-term and stuck in their current way of operating, without considering potential growth opportunities. They build their platform for today\u2019s market, without envisioning tomorrow\u2019s possibilities.<\/p>\n<p>This leads to <strong>paradoxical situations<\/strong>, where market demand is strong, but the ecommerce site can\u2019t keep up\u2026<\/p>\n<p>What initially looks like a success story quickly turns into a disaster because <strong>the company can\u2019t handle the growth<\/strong> it created.<\/p>\n<p>How does this happen? Simply by <strong>underestimating the platform&#8217;s capacity for success<\/strong>. Thinking too small, lacking ambition, and trying to cut costs can leave leaders <strong>ill-prepared for rapid growth<\/strong>, creating bottlenecks that choke their business a few months later.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid creating tomorrow\u2019s bottlenecks today, <strong>you must think in x10 mode.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Generating \u20ac1 million in revenue?<\/strong> Your platform must be able to handle \u20ac10 million. And so on.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t limit your site to a <strong>single language, currency, or distribution channel.<\/strong> Envision selling in new countries or regions where you\u2019re not yet present.<\/li>\n<li>Anticipate <strong>new distribution models<\/strong> that may emerge, and ensure your platform can support them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Never underestimate market demand.<\/strong> You may experience sudden, rapid success, and your ecommerce platform must be able to handle it. This means your platform\u2019s <strong>infrastructure and architecture must be elastic<\/strong>, capable of withstanding such pressure without breaking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the startup world, this is known as <strong>scalability<\/strong> \u2014 the ability to <strong>support fast and sudden growth<\/strong> by adapting your business model to your audience size.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4 id=\"eluidabbe59a2\" class=\"eluidabbe59a2 dn-heading\">\ud83d\udea8 Risk #7: Poor product-market fit<\/h4>\n<div class=\"zn_text_box eluid67aff515 zn_text_box-light element-scheme--light\">\n<p>There\u2019s a big difference between <strong>speed and haste<\/strong>. In an effort to reduce time-to-market, there\u2019s a risk that your platform <strong>won\u2019t meet customer expectations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>How many promising ecommerce platforms have disappointed users at launch or were abandoned within months due to lack of interest?<\/p>\n<p>Internally, the risk is just as high: if the project is poorly thought out and doesn\u2019t include all relevant departments, it can lead to an <strong>unusable IT environment<\/strong> that will eventually be replaced by other tools and processes.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s crucial to <strong>identify the expectations of all future platform users<\/strong>\u2014both external (customers and suppliers) and internal (employees)\u2014early in the project.
