On June 12<\/span>th<\/span>, DATASOLUTION organized the first <\/span>Pimcore<\/span> User Group in <\/span>Paris, <\/span>France, with the support of <\/span>Pimcore<\/span>. Over 25 <\/span>Pimcore<\/span> contributors and users gathered at the <\/span>Espace<\/span> Saint-Antoine <\/span>in Paris <\/span>to discuss two themes chosen by the team.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting began with a remote introduction by Stefan Gruber, CSO of <\/span>Pimcore<\/span>, and Yann <\/span>Delomez<\/span>, Partner Manager for France. This was an opportunity to present and share <\/span>Pimcore’s<\/span> philosophy and vision with the French community, and to unveil a preview of some of the new features in <\/span>Pimcore<\/span> 11.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Topic #<\/span>1<\/span>\u202f: <\/span>E<\/span>xtending <\/span>Pimcore<\/span>, some concrete examples and <\/span>feedback<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Pimcore natively integrates several features and functionalities, but it is often necessary to extend them to meet customer requirements. The DATASOLUTION team would like to share their feedback through 3 examples from recent projects<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Visual completeness module<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Pimcore connector to SFCC (Salesforce Commerce Cloud)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Multi-source translation module (Deepl, Google Translate, Memsource, etc.)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    For each module, the initial need, technical approach and difficulties encountered were presented and shared with the community. Each contributor was able to share his or her own vision and feedback.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    The ease with which Pimcore can be extended – Symfony framework, services and events logic – was noted by all, as were the difficulties associated with ExtJS, which is ill-suited to code extension.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Topic #<\/span>2\u202f:<\/span> must-have bundles for projects<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

    Numerous modules on the Pimcore marketplace cover a wide range of functionalities, while reducing code replication and facilitating updates. DATASOLUTION’s project team presented the community with 5 bundles considered essential by them for any new Pimcore project:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Process Manager<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Number Sequence Generator<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • SSO (based on Symfony bundles)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • API Platform, an alternative to Datahub<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • PimcoreTools, an internal bundle facilitating data management and import\/export.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Constructive and instructive exchanges ensued, with each participant adding his or her contribution and proposing their bundles of choice.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        At the end of the presentations, all participants enjoyed a cocktail reception to continue the exchanges and discussions in an informal way.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        This very first Pimcore User Group event was the first of many to come. Don’t hesitate to join us!<\/p>\n
