Are you a Pimcore Community Edition user?

The Pimcore Community Edition allows you to take advantage of all the platform’s functionalities (PIM/MDM/DAM or CMS), without any limitations in terms of products, users or attributes. Although comprehensive, this Open Source edition nevertheless suffers from a number of limitations.

The first, and this has to do with its license, is the absence of intellectual property protection. The terms of the GPL v3 license grant certain freedoms with regard to the use, modification and distribution of software, including the right to make any modifications to the source code available under the same license. In plain English, this means that your developments or overloads on Pimcore can be distributed without any constraints outside your company.

To limit this effect, and to protect your investment in your Pimcore platform, we recommend that you migrate to the Professional edition of Pimcore, whose commercial PCL license guarantees respect for intellectual property. This edition will also give you access to the extensions marketplace, enabling you to enhance Pimcore with additional functionalities.

Which brings us to the second point.

As complete as it may be, the Pimcore Community Edition does not allow you to benefit from certain important and differentiating features, with high added value and enabling you to get the most out of Pimcore.

It may therefore be a good idea to install the Enterprise Edition and benefit from its exclusive modules and services.

• Optimized and intuitive interface, with a new organization of the main navigation and toolbar, as well as an elegant Light Theme, for greater user-friendliness and comfort.
• Long-term support (LTS), to extend the lifecycle of your Pimcore installation and lead to a better ROI. This support includes security patches for older versions of Pimcore and access to older LTS extensions.

The Community, Professional and Enterprise editions can be installed on Premise (on your own servers) or on any private cloud (Pimcore is compatible with Azure, AWS and GCP).
