Deploying a PIM platform to improve the management and dissemination of data for Stanley Black & Decker in France.

More data, more business

In terms of product management, Stanley Black & Decker faces several challenges:
• Finding the right data quickly and easily
• Avoiding too many exchanges between teams (product, web, marketing, sales, etc.)
• Reducing the risks of “losing” data within the network – as well as the corresponding time spent. Teams must also create and distribute customer matrices and exports in industry-standard formats (FabDis / ETIM) – which requires many manipulations and transformations of Excel files. In addition, the group’s different systems (Hybris, CMS, Datalake) integrate product data and require multiple inputs from different teams.

Pimcore as the data repository for France

A complex data model was created by DATASOLUTION, capable of receiving data from both SAP & Hybris flows, as well as the required attributes for standardized formats such as ETIM and FabDis. During the workshops, the team wanted to have additional objects such as marketing campaigns and customer types, which were added to Pimcore – thanks to the flexibility of its data model. Object relations were extensively used to link all the data together.

With Pimcore’s Classification Stores, attributes were grouped according to their Hybris category, while other Classification Stores grouped the attributes required by standardized formats. Tasks were created in the Process Manager for faster triggering by authorized users.

A PDF template was created to generate commercial data sheets on demand. Finally, a complete and complex screen around product completeness was set up for better tracking during the publication workflow – and for better quality.

A comprehensive data management tool

After 6 months of work, and despite the lockdown, the Pimcore platform was deployed in October 2020 to the key users of Stanley Black & Decker. More than 53,700 technical attributes, grouped into more than 6,800 attribute groups, were initialized, and 15 different types of objects were created. After training and a few migration operations, the product, marketing, and sales teams of Stanley Black & Decker will be able to access a database of 215,000 references.

Towards future improvements

The project team is now looking towards synchronization with the group’s DAM, once again to avoid multiple data entries in the product data management process.
