Opening up to a new market
The DATASOLUTION team once again moved mountains alongside BEAL, the global leader in climbing and high-altitude work ropes. Initially specialized in ropes, the family-owned company based in Vienne (Isère) has expanded its product range and now offers all the necessary equipment for climbing and high-altitude work.
Until now, BEAL’s customers were exclusively distributors such as Le Vieux Campeur. Therefore, there was no identity or graphic charter for the leader in climbing and high-altitude work ropes, which had not particularly needed it until then.

Working on the brand identity
The BEAL brand is known and recognized for its dynamic ropes with bright colors and numerous technical innovations that are popular with climbers. We drew inspiration from these vibrant colors for the graphic charter. A bright fluorescent green is added by different touches on the site. It stands out compared to the competition whose charters are more neutral.
The Audimat typography was chosen for its original and elegant character, suitable for high-end products. Nothing was left to chance as the slight drop on the letters echoes the climbing holds.

A personalized visual universe
The identity of the site is largely based on the highlighting of visuals. In each category, extensive work has been done on the search for photos so that each activity represents an immersion in a real universe where the user can project themselves.
Some photos have been retouched to bring out the colors with a slight boost of saturation. The contour of the photos displays a scratched effect to recall the outdoor environment.

Optimizing the BtoC user experience
Providing them with what they desire
We put ourselves in the shoes of climbers and rope technicians to imagine the most suitable customer experience. The entrance is segmented by type of activity: outdoor climbing, canyoning, pruning… Climbers and workers at height can thus discover the product catalog according to their practice(s).

Clear and airy pages
Once the category is chosen, the user arrives at a “Universe” page containing an overview of the different products in the category and related information. Thus, in the “Outdoor Climbing” category, one can find various climbing ropes, quickdraws, carabiners, belay devices and harnesses. A appreciated point of view for our climbers who can easily navigate to the desired products or change categories.

Product sheet revision
Finally, the product sheets were designed to highlight the specificities of each product. They meet a double challenge: allowing novices to find their way in this avalanche of characteristics, while providing enough technical details to experts in height. The product sheet template has been revised to deliver a maximum of information in a clear way.

BtoB Specificities
A member area allows distributors to log in. As soon as they do, certain blocks are updated to meet the needs of professionals. The website has been optimized to make them more efficient. From the homepage, a search bar allows them to enter product references and quantity instead of searching by name.
- The back-office is connected to the client’s ERP. All the distributor’s applicable prices excluding taxes are sourced through this channel.
- Another specific development is that there are 3 select options for languages, deliveries, and currencies. This is a special request from the BEAL team to be able to choose the three independently.
- Finally, in each category, it is possible to add a PDF providing information required only by professional clients.
